Film Preservation / DVD
Release Effort
Since its cancellation in 1962, I'm Dickens He's Fenster
has rarely been seen on television. Despite its quality, the
fact that the series only produced thirty-two episodes prevented
it from becoming successful in syndication.
As this fun-laden show faded from memory, the original films
moved from storage vault to storage vault, and at one point
most thought the elements were lost or had been destroyed.
However, in 2006, Leonard Stern asked TV historian Jim Benson
to investigate the fate of the series and see if he could
track down the original elements. Happily, Jim located all
of the original 35 mm fine grain films and optical tracks
in a storage facility in Los Angeles.
However, rapid preservation of these original elements is
vital. Film has a finite shelf life. Over time, all of the
films will deteriorate and the episodes will be lost forever.
We need your support. We need to hear from you if you would
like to see this comedy gem emerge from the vaults to see
the light of day on DVD. If you would like to see this piece
of television history preserved, the films restored, and the
entire series digitally remastered for generations to come,
subscribe to the I'm Dickens He's Fenster newsletter to show
your support and you'll also receive updates on our progress,
notification of new video clips and updated material on the
website, special offers on Dickens and Fenster merchandise
and more!
We thank you very much for your support!
